At SGM Kitchens, we believe every home deserves a kitchen that blends style, function, and comfort. Our recent installation for a homeowner in Aberdeen showcases how expert craftsmanship, thoughtful design, and full-service project management can rejuvenate even the most dated of spaces into a modern and practical culinary hub.
Our client, Donna, came to us with a clear goal: to replace her deteriorating kitchen with something modern, open, and well-organised. With other renovations taking place in her home, it was crucial the new kitchen matched her refreshed interior. She requested more storage, a brighter layout, and a two-tone design that would break the monotony of her previous kitchen.
After discussing her ideas and lifestyle needs, we selected the Lugano kitchen range in a painted finish, pairing it with quality materials including LVT flooring, a laminate worktop, stylish splashback, and integrated appliances. The vision was to deliver a kitchen that was both visually appealing and practical for everyday use.
The project was scheduled and completed over a two-week period, beginning on 14 April 2025. As with all our installations, SGM Kitchens took full ownership of the process, managing every detail from start to finish. We supplied all required trades, including a kitchen fitter, plumber, electrician, and painter, ensuring continuity and quality across all stages.
During the installation, a few minor challenges arose. A delay in receiving the engraved electrical sockets—due to a long bank holiday weekend—meant we had to improvise. To keep the kitchen operational, we temporarily installed an oven switch, allowing Donna to use her appliances without disruption. Additionally, when our regular painter was unavailable due to the holidays, we swiftly arranged for a replacement with the client’s help to keep the project moving forward.
These proactive adjustments ensured the kitchen remained on track with minimal stress for the homeowner, all while maintaining our high standards of execution and customer care.
The finished kitchen exceeded expectations. By incorporating Donna’s wishlist, including her preference for an oak-inspired two-tone look, we created a space that is both warm and elegant. LED lighting beneath the wall units added a sleek, contemporary feel while enhancing usability. The addition of an Anthracite designer radiator provided a striking feature, further elevating the aesthetic.
Donna was especially pleased with the overall layout and our ability to deliver exactly what she envisioned. She praised our clear communication, attention to detail, and seamless project management.
