At SGM Kitchens, we take pride in delivering high-quality, modern kitchen installations with exceptional attention to detail and customer satisfaction. This case study showcases the transformation of a dated kitchen into a sleek, modern, and functional space in Kintore, Aberdeenshire. Through innovative design, skilled craftsmanship, and effective communication, we ensured a smooth and rewarding experience for the homeowners.
The homeowners approached us with the desire to modernise their outdated kitchen. Their vision was a contemporary, black-and-white-themed kitchen with high-end features, increased functionality, and a spacious layout. Essential design elements included white stone worktops with an undermount sink, a 3-in-1 hot tap, a full-height fridge and freezer, an integrated cooker hob, and built-in appliances such as a microwave, single oven, and warming drawer.
The installation process required meticulous planning and the coordination of multiple tradespeople to achieve the desired result.
1. Preparation & Initial Setup The project began with our team installing timber studs and re-plasterboarding specific sections to create strong fixing points for the new units. Simultaneously, the electrician rewired the oven, cooker hob, wall unit lights, channel lights, and island lights.
2. Installation & Customisation The new kitchen units were installed, featuring the requested integrated appliances and modern design. The flooring was replaced with high-quality LVT flooring, and new skirting boards were fitted. An additional customer request to upgrade five ground-floor radiators was also accommodated during the installation.
3. Problem-Solving & Communication Despite receiving some damaged doors and cabinets, which caused minor delays, we maintained clear and transparent communication with the client. The swift resolution of these issues ensured the project remained as close to schedule as possible, with minimal disruption.
4. Finishing Touches The final phase involved fine-tuning the installation and completing the media wall feature. To express our gratitude, we gifted the clients with a personalised glass and an SGM Kitchens mug, adding a personal touch to the project.
The result was a stylish, spacious, and functional kitchen that met all the client’s expectations. The black-and-white theme created a modern aesthetic while the high-quality finishes and thoughtfully integrated appliances improved functionality and efficiency. The media wall and kitchen island became standout features, enhancing both the visual appeal and the usability of the space.Â
The clients were delighted with the outcome, highlighting their positive experience with us and our team. They appreciated the trustworthy and professional nature of the tradespeople, who they felt comfortable leaving unsupervised in their home. The homeowners also praised our problem-solving capabilities, punctuality, and clear communication throughout the project.
SGM Kitchens installed a full kitchen and utility room and managed the entire project, including plumbing, electrical work, flooring installation, and radiator upgrades. We can’t fault their work; everything was completed on time and to a high standard. The team was trustworthy, professional, and always had solutions to any challenges that arose. We are thrilled with our new kitchen and would highly recommend SGM Kitchens to anyone considering a kitchen renovation.
