About The Project

The existing kitchen was too small for their needs and poorly suited to their lifestyle. The brief was clear: they wanted a bigger, brighter, and more functional space that aligned with their traditional tastes. The new kitchen was to be relocated to the dining room, providing the footprint needed for their vision. High on their wishlist were timber doors, a range cooker, and a large double cupboard for their coffee machine—an essential feature for the client.

The Process & The Kitchen Design & Build In Progress

From the initial survey, it was clear this installation would be both exciting and demanding. The client was after a painted Caserta kitchen range paired with a luxury stone worktop and ceramic sink. Alongside the kitchen, the utility room also needed reworking to accommodate a washing machine and tumble dryer in a more ergonomic position, raised from the ground to ease day-to-day use.

Although the client originally arranged their own trades, we stepped in to recommend a trusted plumber when their original installer let them down. This decision proved vital, as the new boiler installation and pipework renewal created an early delay. Fortunately, thanks to our flexible scheduling, we were able to continue work in other areas of the house while plumbing was underway.

Our scope included full supply and installation of the kitchen and utility, as well as fitting oak herringbone flooring seamlessly throughout the kitchen, hallway, bedroom, and living room—without the use of thresholds. The client provided their own appliances, and we ensured their integration was flawlessly managed within the design.

The Results

Despite a few supply chain hiccups and delays, the project was completed smoothly and on time. The finished result is a kitchen that radiates timeless charm and functionality. The rich timber cabinet doors combined with the stone worktops create a luxurious feel, while the spacious double cupboard allows for discreet and convenient storage of the client’s coffee machine and microwave.

The utility space was another standout feature, offering practicality without compromising on comfort or style. The raised laundry appliances have made everyday tasks easier, and the overall flow of the space now suits the client's routine perfectly.

Steven (SGM Kitchens) fitted our new kitchen and utility. Very professional and a skilled joiner. He also laid herringbone oak flooring throughout the whole property (with no thresholds). Have and still do recommend Steven.
